 MY experience in Hardwood flooring. 

I started working directly for Ray Crompton  the summer of 1979, The Oldest Largest Company in Vancouver .
Ray was in need of a helper to execute the Gymnasium Refinishing work carried out during the summer times.

The task at hand was spraying moisture cured urethane finish on large area not always a gymnasium floor

So my introduction to this line of work was started at the time I was eligible for the New Apprenticeship program

As I worked directly for Ray the Owner , he taught me , I perceived and inferred and we communicated well.

I was tasked with enormous responsibility to which I always completed beyond his expectations

Usually sending me in advance to do the preliminary preparations and at the end of this initiate summer asked me to join the organization full time. I then was set into the company to learn everything else and eventually was in charge of my own crew at age 22.

as I got my first holiday in June of 1986. I did return for a year 1988 and another full year in 1994

He continued to keep in touch with me Inviting me as All hardwood floor Ltd to take on a bunch of work as late as  spring 2007 summer and fall 2008

I really value the experience that I was able to obtain and practice through His organization and the mentorship of many of the senior  Journeymen and Craftsmen whom he employed Many of the Mechanical technique used then still cannot be matched today.

I had heard That Ray one time had a partner name Clause Chilasky who they set up in Kamloops BC

Another Trades men to which I had the Honor to go and work for and learn a few things back in 94-95

I spent 2and3/4 years as the foreman of prefinished hardwood flooring at JORDANS contract sales and left  after completing the US departure terminal at the Vancouver airport expansion completed April 1999

Another mentor is Jim Burnstad Who I worked for a few years Really good  trades men  95 onwards

Many other companies do not angle sand their  floors leaving a less flattened look with the rolling scalloped grain effect,

Glitsa (TM) Swedish finish is the conversion Varnish that is widely used all over the world over 50 years now.

It is also a one of a kind conversion Varnish in a three component system where the under coating

Is a two component mix and contains a light amber tone delivery is about 275 Sqft per gallon

The gold seal top coat is an opaque or cloudy transparent with no amber tone and contains the tuff stuff

\when applied over each other during a certain duration the two different kinds of solvents meld and create a toned down look where you cannot see the heavy built up look. Swedish finish implies a soft subtle looking finish. The nicest looking most durable awesome finish available.

There are not very many Hardwood floor trade people who know the secrets to success  when applying this product, Up until the early Eighties BC hardwood had the sole distribution rights to this product

As a Protégé of Ray Crompton and starting in the business as an apprentice with them I had the opportunities that  are just not available today especially when it comes to mentorship and practical experience . Now thirty years later I am the  competent knowledgeable professional Hardwood craftsmen

And Glitsa(TM) Swedish finish is the standard  and is superior in all categories, durability , soft subtle look non ambering, hides scratching as it wears over time.  

People fear the formaldehyde in the product which is actually one sixth of one percent.

The aroma is the die butyl alcohol and the toluene

There are lots of alternatives to Conversion varnishes such as Basic Coatings (TM) Street Shoe A 2 component water borne finish
